For ALDI CHINA, over 95% of our private labeled cocoa products are certified and all private labeled chocolate bar from our store are made from sustainable certified cocoa sources. These certifications ensure that raw materials are farmed and produced by protecting the environment like tropical rainforest, while ensure fair compensation for farmers. Our new vision for 2030 prepares us for the future. We will consider relevant trends and opportunities currently being presented on a worldwide scale.

Through our vision of ‘making sustainability affordable’, we will continue to provide our customers with access to great products and will reassure them that they have been responsibly sourced. We do not do this because it is what society expects of us, but because it is the right thing to do. By addressing social and environmental problems where they are most pressing, we can use our influence to have the greatest impact on people and the planet.

Our global CR Strategy consists of four international focus areas – human rights, resource efficiency, zero carbon, and employer of choice - and is complemented by additional national focus areas, which concentrate on giving all customers access to healthy products and supporting local communities through charity partnerships. All these activities together contribute to the overall vision of making sustainability affordable to every customer.

OUR GLOBAL FOCUS AREAS

1.Human Rights: Using our buying power to respect human rights.

We are committed to respecting human rights and improving living and working conditions throughout our supply chains. Our commitment encompasses any adverse impact on human rights that we might cause, contribute to or are directly linked to.

In order to make a real difference, we have established a wide range of partnerships with organisations including suppliers, manufacturers, retailers, governments, and NGOs. Together we can improve the lives of workers and their families in many different ways; these include promoting better working and living conditions for workers and their families, paying a fair wage, empowering women, clamping down on child labour and increasing the transparency in our supply chains.

Our Human Rights Policy Statement outlines our human rights due diligence process and future commitments.

2.Resource Efficiency: Using resources wisely and protecting ecosystems.

Sustainable buying practices are essential for the long-term success of our business. We are responsible for all activities within our supply chains and for the resources used in the production of our products. Together with our business partners, we will work towards increasing transparency and continuous improvement within supply chains.

We will reduce food waste across our business and make other operational waste reusable or recyclable. We will reduce our own-brand product packaging weight and make the packaging we use 100% reusable, recyclable or compostable.

We will increase the share of sustainable products available to our customers. Our aspiration is that our products are made in a sustainable way and we consider environmental and social criteria in our global supply chains - from raw materials to final production.

3.Zero Carbon: Doing our part to limit global warming.

Our business activities have a significant impact on climate and the environment. This is a result not only of the products we sell, but also of our entire business operations. Our goal is to minimise the ecological footprint of our corporate activities by lowering our greenhouse gas emissions and ensuring that the products we offer do not have a detrimental impact on the environment.

As part of our wider commitment to minimise the impact of our products, we will also work with our business partners to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and promote climate protection projects in our supply chains.

4.Employer of choice: Being the employer of choice in our markets.
